Varanasi Vande Bharat Express tire burst after being hit by cattle and cow

A ‘flat tyre’ in railway terminology means loss of true roundness of the wheel with some “flat” spots on the circumference of the wheel.

The train suffered a snag in a traction motor that jammed its wheels and damaged their right roundness, a condition authorities described as “flat tyres”.

officials told PTI That the semi-high speed train left New Delhi station at its scheduled time of 06.00 hrs, but it had to be withdrawn after traveling about 90 km at Khurja station in Uttar Pradesh.

“Varanasi Vande Bharat Rake (Train No. 22436) has failed due to a bearing fault in the traction motor of C8 coach between Dankaur and Wair stations of North Central Railway. Indian Railways said that the bearing jam was rectified with the help of the NCR team.

“However, due to the development of a flat tyre of 80 mm, the train has been shifted up to Khurja with a limited speed of 20 kmph. The replacement rake departing from NDLS at 10:45 pm has reached Khurja. Transportation of passengers It is being done in Khurja, it added.

All the 1,068 passengers had to be deboarded and transferred to Shatabdi Express rake brought from Delhi for their onward journey, which started at around 12.40 am.

It further states that after the rake is taken back to the maintenance depot, a detailed examination of the failure will be carried out.

A traction motor is an electric motor used for propulsion of systems such as locomotives, electric or hydrogen vehicles, elevators or electric multiple units.

Traction motor bearings are critical to the safe operation of high-speed trains, but they are also the most vulnerable component of the motor. A known bearing failure can lead to serious accidents.

Therefore, any fault in the traction motor may force the train to be suspended or induce safety accidents.

Officials said that the train crossed Dadri station of North Central Railway at 06.38.

While this level crossing was proceeding from gate number 146, the gateman working there felt some friction in the seventh compartment from the rear SLR (Seating cum Luggage Rake) of the train and immediately reported brake block jam.

The train, which was running at a speed of about 100 kmph, was stopped at Vair station (Bulandshahr), 67 km from Delhi, at 7:30 am.

Later, after inspection of the wheel by the onboard technical staff, the train was moved 20 km further to Khurja Railway Station at a controlled speed.

Senior Section Engineer, Carriage and Wagon, VK Meena said that the Shatabdi Express started the onward journey after waiting for four hours for the passengers.

He said that repairs are being done to take the Vande Bharat Express to Delhi.

This is the third consecutive day that the Vande Bharat train has been in the news.

Earlier on Friday, Vande Bharat Express train hit a cow while going to Mumbai near Anand in Gujarat on Friday. Western Railway’s chief public relations officer Sumit Thakur said the incident took place at 3.49 pm between Kanjari and Anand stations, about 433 km from Mumbai. “There is a small dent in the front of the train,” he said.

Senior PRO Pradeep Sharma said that the journey resumed within ten minutes after the train stopped. It was not immediately clear whether the cow survived the accident.

Earlier on Thursday, four buffaloes died after being hit by a train between Vatva and Maninagar railway stations going from Mumbai to Gandhinagar. Its nose panel had to be replaced overnight due to a malfunction.

Speaking at an event in Anand on Friday, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said a collision with cattle on the tracks was inevitable. He said the train, which can reach a maximum speed of 160 kmph, has been designed keeping the potential in mind.
