‘Very sad’, says Kejriwal of CDS General Bipin Rawat’s accidental death

New Delhi Condoling the death of CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat in a helicopter crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed the death as extremely sad.

India’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Rawat and his wife died today after an IAF helicopter carrying them and 11 others crashed near Coonoor, the Indian Air Force said.

“Extremely sad. God rest his soul,” Kejriwal posted on Twitter.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also termed the death as “a big loss for the country”. ,

The accident happened when General Rawat was on his way to the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington. It is feared that the accident took place due to poor visibility in the fog.

The IAF said Group Captain Varun Singh SC, Directing Staff at DSSC and the sole survivor was undergoing treatment at Military Hospital, Wellington.
