Video: American Airlines plane makes emergency landing after engine fire

The plane landed safely, no injuries were reported.

On Sunday, an American Airlines plane was forced to return to an Ohio airport after an engine fire following a bird hit. A video going viral on social media showed the plane returning to John Glenn International Airport in Columbus as flames and smoke billowed from the right engine.

A Twitter user shared a clip of the incident, writing, “@FAANews I just saw AA1958 with major engine problems shortly after take off. Flames coming out of the engine and loud noise coming from the plane Was.”

According to CNNThe Boeing 737 Flight 1958 had taken off from Columbus for Phoenix before the crew reported the bird strike on Sunday morning. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the plane landed safely, reported no injuries, and said the incident was under investigation.

Talking about the incident, a passenger on board the plane told nbc 4 that he and others on the flight heard a loud rumbling sound in the plane, with a pilot allegedly telling them that he had hit a flock of geese shortly after takeoff.

The passenger also said that once the plane landed safely, all of them were removed and taken to another flight, which took off later in the morning.
