On October 16, a partially mutilated body of a student was found in a hostel room of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) Kharagpur. Police had said Faizan Ahmed, a 23-year-old mechanical engineering student from Assam, died of suicide. His family has alleged that he was pushed to the edge by ragging and that his complaints were ignored by the management of IIT-Kharagpur. “It was a clear case of murder,” he said.
