Video: Former Chinese President Escorted Out, Sits Next to Xi Jinping

Hu Jintao was unexpectedly thrown out of the Communist Party Congress

Beijing:

Former Chinese President Hu Jintao, Xi Jinping’s immediate predecessor, unexpectedly pulled out of the closing ceremony of a congress of the ruling Communist Party on Saturday.

A Reuters witness in Congress said Hu, 79, who sat to Xi’s left, was led by two stewards from the stage of the main auditorium of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Hu appeared a little shaky last Sunday, when he was assisted on the same platform for the Congress’s opening ceremony.

Once every five years, the Congress concluded with amendments to the party’s constitution that strengthened Xi’s core position and the guiding role of his political thought within the party.
