Video: Panic inside SpiceJet aircraft amid severe unrest

SpiceJet has expressed regret over the incident of horrific unrest.

Horrific visuals have emerged from inside a SpiceJet aircraft from Mumbai, which faced severe air disturbances on Sunday evening while landing at Durgapur airport in West Bengal.

In moments of panic caught on camera, luggage and oxygen masks were visible below scattered on the floor of the plane as the plane passed through the rough road. Even the luggage of the cabin fell on the passengers.

At least 15 people were injured, including 12 passengers and three cabin crew members. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that some of them suffered head injuries and received stitches. A passenger has complained of spinal cord injury.

A SpiceJet spokesperson said that the passengers were immediately given medical assistance on their arrival at Durgapur.

“There were three jolts on the way down. It was much more intense than what happens in a car,” described one passenger with a bandage on his head.

SpiceJet has expressed regret over the incident.

A SpiceJet spokesperson said, “SpiceJet Boeing B737 aircraft operating flight SG-945 from Mumbai to Durgapur on May 1 encountered severe disturbance while landing, which unfortunately resulted in injuries to some passengers.”

The DGCA said that they are deputing teams for regulatory scrutiny. Director (Air Safety) HN Mishra will investigate the incident. Medical reports of the injured are awaited.
