Video: Speeding car rammed into crowd during Durga Puja immersion in Bhopal

Three people were injured in a speeding car collision in a Durga procession in Bhopal.

Bhopal:

During the Durga idol immersion in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, three people, including a teenager, were injured when a speeding car rammed into a crowd during the immersion of Durga idols. Police said today that the driver was arrested this morning.

A video of the incident shared by a bystander shows the car driver overturning the car at high speed, while people are seen trying to save themselves by moving out of the vehicle’s path. A 16-year-old boy was reportedly pulled over by the car and his condition is said to be critical.

The incident happened on the road outside Bhopal railway station when the procession was progressing. An on-duty police head constable also suffered minor injuries to his leg, a police officer was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

DIG Bhopal Irshad Wali said, “Police have arrested the driver. The car has also been seized.”

This is the second such incident on Saturday.

In neighboring Chhattisgarh, a One person killed and 16 others injured After he was allegedly crushed by a car during immersion capture in Jashpur district of the state.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in a tweet expressed grief over the incident and assured that justice will be done.

“The Jashpur incident is very sad and heart-wrenching. The culprits were immediately arrested. Prima facie action has also been taken against the police officers found guilty. An inquiry has been ordered. No one will be spared. Everyone will be spared.” Justice will be served.” May God rest the departed soul in peace,” Mr Baghel said in a tweet in Hindi.

The Chhattisgarh Police has arrested two accused and assured strict action against them.
