Videos show massive tornado-like waterfall off Florida coast

Many videos of these waterfalls are going viral on social media.

Shocking videos of water springs in Florida, USA are going viral on social media. These falls, also known as tornadoes over water, were caused by a strong thunderstorm in northwest Florida on Tuesday. The natural phenomenon often takes people by surprise and sometimes even moves from land to water. The amazing view was captured by the locals from one apartment on the beach and the other in the area. The video shows several electric shocks near the waterfall, as well as oncoming storm clouds.

One of the Instagram videos, according to CBS News What was recorded on a beach in Destin on Tuesday ranged from low-hanging dark clouds to massive tornado-like funnels. It appears to connect the sea and the sky.

It moved away from the shore after the waterfall was formed, and did not touch the ground.

Another footage posted on Facebook was also taken at the beach and shows a waterfall on the surface of the sea. No casualties have been reported from these water tornadoes.

According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a shipwreck is a circling column of air and water mist. This further divided them into two categories – Fair Weather Falls and Tornado Falls.

NOAA states that tornadoes are tornadoes that form over water, or move from land to water. They have similar characteristics to land tornadoes. It further said that these falls are associated with strong thunderstorms and are often accompanied by strong winds and seas, large hail and persistent dangerous lightning.

Fair-weather waterfalls, on the other hand, typically form along the dark flat base of a row of developing cumulus clouds, according to the agency.

While thunderstorms develop downstream, a fair weather waterfall develops on the surface of the water and works its way upward.
