Vijaya Sai says convention centers will be set up in all areas in Vizag

YSR Congress Party’s Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a convention center and a park near Yendana at ASR Nagar in Madhurwada here. He was accompanied by Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao, Mayor G. Hari Venkata Kumari and some other officers were also there.

The convention center is being built with a budget of ₹4 crore. Out of the total budget, 2 crore will be provided by Mr. Vijay Sai under his Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Vijaya Sai said that a convention center would be provided in each area of ​​Visakhapatnam city. The venues for all the centers had already been decided. “About 50% of the funds for each convention center will be provided from my MPLADS fund,” he said. He said that these convention centers would be used for conducting government and private events, meetings, marriages and other events.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Commission (GVMC) commissioner G. Sreejana said convention centers would be built to accommodate 1,000 people. He said that parking arrangements would be made for about 100 cars at the centre.

Earlier Shri Vijaya Sai laid the foundation stone for developing an open space in ASR Nagar with a budget of 2.5 lakhs. Speaking at the event, he said that GVMC has around 800 open spaces and the government will ensure their security. “In the first phase, 304 open spaces will be developed as mini parks, where we will plant saplings, build boundary walls/campus walls,” he said, adding that there are 216 water bodies, which will also be protected. He also said that GVMC is coming up with proposals to develop Mudasarlova Park as a botanical garden.
