Diesel and Johnson had an altercation while collaborating on 2016’s “The Fate of the Furious”. Since then there have been several occasions when the two action heroes have exchanged barbs in the media, with Johnson posting an Instagram post in 2016 referring to Diesel and questioning his professionalism.

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Diesel publicly expressed his desire for Johnson to appear in the upcoming film, which is expected to be the first finale of the two-part franchise.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of ‘Fast 10’. As you know my kids in my house address you as Uncle Dwayne. There’s no holiday like that. Chalte they and you don’t send wishes… But the time has come. The legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to keep my promise to Pablo,” Diesel told his late co-star and good friend Referring to Paul Walker by his surname.

The actor said that no one else could play Hobbes as effectively as Johnson and asked him to “show up”.

“I swore we’d reach and reveal the Best of the 10 finale fast! I say it with love… But you must show, don’t leave the franchise unscathed, you have a very important role to play. Can’t play. I hope you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny,” Diesel said.

Johnson, one of Hollywood’s leading action stars, appeared in the 2011 “Fast & Furious” film series with “Fast Five” as Diplomatic Security Service agent Lucas Hobbs.

After starring in three more “Fast & Furious” movies, Johnson decided not to star in the latest installment “F9: The Fast Saga” and instead titled her own spin-off with Jason Statham— “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw”

The next film in the series will hit theaters on April 7, 2023. Diesel will play the lead role, while series regulars Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez are also expected to return. Filmmaker Justin Lin will direct the film
