Viral video on Barhi murder case is fake, action taken against 100: Jharkhand Police

Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), February 16: A clash between members of two communities at Barhi in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district has against more than 100 people for spreading a “fake video” on social media recently related to the killing of a boy. Legal action has been taken. Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chauthe said on Wednesday that on investigation it was found that the purported video was made by mixing two clips – one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Paraguay. Against over 100 people for making the video viral on various social media platforms, linking it to the Barhi police station incident. That video is fake,” Chauth said.

A statement by the Hazaribagh Police said that the video has nothing to do with the Barhi incident as it happened in the evening, while the viral clip shows incidents during the day. “All are appealed to refrain from making such fake videos viral so that there is no confusion among the people and communal harmony is maintained,” the statement said.

A 17-year-old boy, Rupesh Kumar Pandey, was killed in a clash during the immersion procession of the idol of Goddess Saraswati at Barhi on February 6, resulting in communal tension in the area. The administration claims that the boy was murdered due to personal enmity. The opposition BJP and the family members of the deceased have been demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident.
