Viral video shows elephant standing on its head while bathing, anger on internet

The elephant performs headstand as its owner bathes the animal.

In a video going viral on social media, an elephant is seen posing like a circus while taking a bath. But the viral video has angered social media users.

The elephant stands on its head (a headstand) while its owner bathes it but many on Twitter claim that the animal has been trained to do so.

The video was shared by Morissa Schwartz on Twitter with the caption, “I didn’t know elephants could do this.” It has got more than 3.4 lakh views and more than 11,000 likes.

One user wrote, “No offense but you can do anything when you’ve been trained to end animal products.”

“Circus elephants do this all the time,” commented another.

“It’s not by choice — it’s not a neat trick that an elephant does just because it’s the result of a wild animal being kept in captivity and abused for human entertainment,” a third on the video Tweet read.

Elephants are known to be friendly to people, and a viral video that became popular on social media last month showed a gleeful exchange between an elephant cub and its keepers at the zoo.

The video was shared by IFS officer Dr Samrat Gowda on Twitter. It depicts a baby elephant struggling to cross a fence. However, after some time, it eventually overcomes the obstacle and goes straight for the mattress on which the zoo keeper lies.

The elephant tries to unload the “sleeping” man, while the keeper jokingly attempts to share the mattress with the animal before being forced to wake up. However, the guard does not give up and once again lies down on the mattress and sends the elephant’s face to the pile of leaves in the first corner.

The viral video has garnered over 1.96 lakh views and over 13,500 likes so far.
