Viral video shows London’s Westminster Bridge 125 years apart

Commuters use the bridge to go to work.

A video comparing the traffic on London’s Westminster Bridge after 125 years is going viral on social media. The historic Westminster Bridge is a road and pedestrian bridge that spans the River Thames in London.

The comparison video shows old footage of the bridge from 1896, while the other part shows footage from 2021. The comparison reveals that the architectural marvel stands at the same place, while the people and vehicles around have changed. In the 2021 footage, cars and buses can be seen on the road, while in the old footage, horse carts pass near the bridge.

One user wrote, “The only thing I miss about cities from my youth is that they seemed a lot quieter than they are now. I prefer to hear click-clacks than car engines. (But apparently more functional.”

“That’s not 2021; no freedom constraints, and I’m pretty sure Ben was still covered for renewal. I think it’s about 2012,” commented another user.
