Vistara: DGCA fines Vistara Rs 10 lakh for violating landing norms and ‘dangerous life’ of people on board – Times of India

New Delhi: Directorate General civil Aviation ,DGCA10 lakh after a co-pilot landed an aircraft in Indore under the supervision of a captain who had not undergone simulator training to train the first officer. The regulator says it was a “serious breach (endangering) the lives of everyone on board.”
“Vistara has been fined for violating the takeoff and landing clearance given to the first officers without any training. Training is conducted for the first officer to land the aircraft in the simulator before doing so in the aircraft with the passengers on board. Similarly, a captain is also trained in the simulator before the first officer is given a landing,” said a senior DGCA official.
However, the regulator observed that in one instance a Vistara “The aircraft was being landed by the first officer without a captain or a first officer trained in the simulator. A serious breach endangering the lives of passengers on board the ship. The airline has been fined Rs 10 lakh for the said lapse. It was detected during the landing in Indore,” said the official.
Comments have been sought from Vistara and are awaited.
