Volkswagen Taigun receives over 12,000 pre-bookings in India

Volkswagen India has received over 12,000 pre-bookings in India. Just a few days back, we told you that the company is getting more than 10,000 pre-bookings for the SUV in the country and now the number has gone up to 12,221. It is certainly a big deal for a VW car to garner so much interest from the market, considering that the SUV’s price in the country starts from Rs 10.50 lakh. Taigun has been a much awaited launch from the company in India and it is the first SUV based on the highly localized MQB-A0 IN platform.

Speaking with carandbike, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We have received 12000 bookings till date, and in fact dealers will start the deliveries from today itself. Demand is more than production and We will keep the customers informed in advance about the delivery time frame of the vehicle.”

The top-spec GT variant of the Taigun is packed with features

The top-spec GT variant of the SUV comes loaded with features like LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, 10-inch touchscreen display and a fully digital instrument cluster. On the safety front, the SUV comes with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ISOFIX mount, rear parking camera, ABS and 6 airbags among others.

Gupta said that the bookings are very much in line with VW’s production plan, “As of now, the bookings are more in line with the production we have planned. There may be some variations with the demand coming in for a certain variant, but we have the production plan.” which is flexible enough to take care of those changes.”

Taigun is available with only two petrol engine options

Volkswagen Taigun comes with two turbocharged petrol engine options – 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine. The former is tuned to make 113 bhp and 175 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI unit makes 148 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, while mated to a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission.
