Volleyball Club World Championship to be played in India by the end of the year

Volleyball World and the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) announced India as the host nation for the Men’s Club World Championships, an international volleyball tournament organized by senior men’s international teams for two years in partnership with the Prime Volleyball League. The Volleyball Club World Championships is nearly two decades old and consists of men’s professional clubs from around the world competing for the title of World Champions and a share of approximately $350,000 in prize money. Together FIVB and CVC Capital Partners founded Volleyball World to drive growth, innovation and investment in volleyball. The championship will be staged from December 6 to 10, 2023. The host city will be announced later this year.

As the host nation, the winners of the Prime Volleyball League in 2023 and 2024 will represent India in the tournament, where they will face competition from established clubs from top volleyball nations such as Italy, Brazil, Iran, etc. The league is sponsored by Rupay. and gaming company A23 as the ‘powered-by’ sponsor.

The Club World Championship will be marketed by sports marketing company Baseline Ventures, which is also a founding partner of Prime Volleyball League. In 2022, the first season of Prime Volleyball League, the company claimed, would have a cumulative TV viewership of 133 million in India and 84 million on digital platforms.

The league will be streamed live on Volleyball World TV outside the Indian subcontinent from Saturday. The qualifying teams and final schedule for the championship will be announced later this year.
