Viacom18’s video-on-demand streaming platform Voot, after finding success in Hindi over the years, is now focusing on expanding its base in the Kannada language.

A top official said that in order to capture a larger segment of Kannada audience, Voot has prepared a series of programs which will be unveiled soon.

“Kannada is their next strongest market where television is concerned. We have been quite aggressive in the Kannada market since January 2022. We have achieved a leadership position in the Kannada market for OTT within the first six months,” said Viacom18’s Farzad Palia, Head of SVOD and International Business, said.

“We have made remarkable performance considering that our competitors have been in the market for a long time. Seeing this success in this market, we decided to double our Kannada content,” he said.

He said that Voot will premiere a new film in Kannada every Friday on OTT.

Speaking on Voot’s plans for the southern markets, Mr Palia said, “We are in no hurry. Just like we learn in Hindi, we want to get our education in Kannada. We have a lot of work going on for other languages ​​and markets as well.”
