Australia batting great David Warner has revealed that he wants to win the Ashes series in England in 2023 and beat India in his own backyard before giving time to his career in Test cricket.

after maintaining Ashes With an unassailable 3-0 lead within 12 days, Warner, who turned 35 during the T20 World Cup in October this year where he won the player-of-the-tournament award in Australia’s title win, conceded that there are still some goals he wants to achieve before giving up on the longest format of the game.

“We still haven’t beat India in India. It would be nice to do it. And obviously, away from England, we had a series (in 2019), but hopefully, if I get that chance and chance, I’ll be thinking I’m about to go back,” Warner told a private sports website.

Warner has played 13 and eight Tests in three series in England and two in India respectively. But his record in both countries is poor, averaging 26 and 24 respectively without a century.

Warner will be 37 by the time England’s next Ashes tour, but age is just a number for a left-handed opener.

“I think James Anderson sets the benchmark for older people these days,” he said.

He said, “We look at the way we are progressing in our days. But for me it is about performing to the best of my ability and scoring runs on the board.

“I’m feeling good. As I said, I wasn’t out of form, so hopefully I can put some more numbers on the board this new year.”
