“Was always available 24/7”: Former BYJU employee says company asked him to resign immediately

Edtech company BYJU recently laid off around 1,000 employees across departments as part of its restructuring process. The latest round of firings came at a time when the company entered into a legal battle with lenders for a $1 billion term loan in the US. Meanwhile, a laid-off employee took to social media to express his dismay about the job cuts. He said that even though he was available 24/7 for the company, he asked to resign immediately without any consideration.

Arpit Singh, who works as a retention manager at the company, said in a LinkedIn Post that he has lost all hope. “Today I am saying this after losing all hope. I lost my job due to layoff. I don’t know where it was my mistake. I worked very hard during my work in BYJU’S and Career. I have never worked since 10 Didn’t apply for 10. 8 work culture in my life, always available 24/7 for my company but once they came and asked me to resign immediately.”

Mr. Singh said that in 2022, when he needed a job, Byju’s helped him. “I am not complaining about Byju’s, they helped me last year when I needed a job, work culture was very good and they gave me work as per my expectations. Now they may be in trouble so they Such tough decisions have to be taken. I will always respect my first organization but I was pretty sure that I can easily get a job at minimum equal pay but I was wrong.”

Continuing the post, the former employee said that he has not informed anyone in his family as he is the sole breadwinner. Mr. Singh said, “Last year I came in this private sector because I was not elected in the government with a very small margin, but after one year I lost it, I lost everything. My family was informed about this. Don’t dare to tell because don’t have only one good position in my family which is serving them barely.As I have applied in many companies,gived many interviews but didn’t get selected in first,second or third round.I No facilities needed, I can do anything, but don’t you dare face this stage.”
