Unidentified people pelted stones at a coach of the new Vande Bharat train ahead of its launch

Visakhapatnam:

Unidentified persons pelted stones at a coach of the brand new Vande Bharat train at the railway yard in Visakhapatnam, shattering window panes, police said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually flag off the high-speed Vande Bharat Express train between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam on January 15.

Preliminary investigation by the Railway Protection Force has revealed that some people playing near the coach complex at Kancharapalem mischievously hurled stones at the train on Wednesday night, causing the damage.

The Visakhapatnam Police has joined the Railway Police Force in investigating the incident.

A rake of Vande Bharat train reached Visakhapatnam from Chennai on Wednesday for maintenance check.

Police said that upon its arrival in Visakhapatnam, the rake was taken to the new coach complex at Kancharapalem, where the incident took place.

The glass of one window was completely shattered, while the other had a crack, he said.

A local police officer said they are on the lookout for the people who committed the crime. He said that security has been increased in the area after the incident.
