Watch: Chinese woman suffering from ear pain finds spider’s nest inside

The spider attacked the endoscopic tube the doctor used to examine the woman’s ear.

A woman who went to a hospital in China complaining of tinnitus and pain in her ear was shocked when the doctor told her that a live spider was raising a colony of offspring inside. This strange incident took place on April 20 in Sichuan province. The spider was discovered when the doctor performed an endoscopy of the woman’s ear. A video of the procedure, which the doctor captured, shows him pulling out a false eardrum that was actually a silken web woven by the spider.

According to a video released by Viral Press, an endoscopy was performed on the woman’s right ear with special tweezers fitted with a camera at the Huidong County People’s Hospital.

The doctor found something like an eardrum but realized it was a silken mesh. Then as soon as he peeled it off, the dreaded spider came out carrying a family behind it and attacked the endoscopic tube.

After listening to the woman’s complaint about tinnitus, the doctor soon came to the conclusion that the strange sounds and pain were due to something else.

“The web made by this spider is very similar to the eardrum. When the endoscope of the ear first entered, nothing abnormal was found. But when you look closely, it looks like something is going on underneath. I Pushed the cobweb aside, it was almost about to escape, but it was pulled out smoothly in the end,” Han Jinglong, a doctor at the Department of Otolaryngology, told Viral Press.

The doctor said that fortunately the spider was not venomous, and only minor damage was done to the woman’s ear canal.

The hospital cautioned individuals against removing foreign objects by themselves, urging them to seek professional help when available due to the risk of further injury.
