Watch: Czech man holds plank position for over 9 hours, breaks world record

A man from the Czech Republic broke the world record while attempting the mental and physical challenge of maintaining an abdominal plank.

Czech athlete Josef Salek aka Joska set a new world record for the longest time in abdominal plank position (male) with 9 hours, 38 minutes and 47 seconds despite pain. Guinness World Records.

he broke Guinness World Record Set in 2022 by Australian Daniel Scally, who held the plank for 9 hours, 30 minutes and 1 second.

Joseph, a therapist, lecturer and personal development coach better known as Joska, tackled the mammoth challenge at the AVATAR festival on May 20 at the Park Hotel in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

Joska’s story is an inspirational one, in that she completely changed her philosophy on life.

“Five years ago, I was 15 kg (33 lb) overweight. I used to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. But a certain life-changing moment led me to this change, so what I want to give to the world is It’s that no matter what your age, you can only make changes to feel happier, more vital and healthier,” she told Guinness World Records.

“Actually, that’s the message I wanted to spread by breaking the record.”

“I am a happy person today. I am grateful for what I experienced and managed, because today it can inspire many people to see that any unpleasant situation can be overcome and beyond the horizon of our imagination. It is possible to push beyond physical and mental limits.”

Guinness World Records adjudicator Jack Brockbank was there to oversee Joska’s record attempt.
