WATCH: Engine cover peels off Alaska Airlines flight bound for San Diego

No injuries were reported among the 176 passengers.

Window seats may be the most coveted on a flight, but on Monday an Alaska Airlines flight may have debated what was otherwise a peaceful view of clouds, with passengers greeted with parts of their plane’s engines.

Part of the flight’s cowling, a removable metal housing for the engine, peeled off and the interior of an Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to San Diego was exposed shortly after takeoff. The flight was then diverted back to Seattle.

A video shared on Twitter captured the incident from the window of the plane. A sticker text attached to the clip reads, “We are saved.”

In a statement to CNN, Alaska Airlines said, “Flight 558 reported an unusual vibration on the left side of the aircraft shortly after departure … the aircraft returned to the airport and landed safely.”

The airline also said that none of the 176 passengers and six crew members were injured, CNN informed of, However, the plane has been taken out of service while a security team is investigating the cause of the problem.
