Watch: Food blogger shows the right way to eat dosa; Internet finds it unacceptable

It is safe to assume that dosa and idli are the most sought after dishes in Indian cuisine. Healthy and comfortable, we find these South Indian dishes in almost every Indian restaurant. And, we love to get our hands dirty while enjoying a hearty dosa. Scooping some of that delicious potato mixture with a crunchy dosa and finally dunking it in hot and tangy sambar is the perfect way to enjoy the deliciousness, isn’t it? Although it may be the most appropriate way to enjoy dosa at homeWe have to follow certain etiquette when we are dining out, especially if it is a formal gathering. A food blogger recently uploaded a video showing the ‘right way to eat masala dosa’ and it has garnered some extreme opinions on the internet.

Food stylist and blogger, Manasi Shiv Rathi recently uploaded a video on her Instagram profile @_pizzandpie_ explaining how to eat dosa and the video didn’t quite go down well with the audience. While some thought the idea was helpful and appreciated it, many felt it was of no use. The controversial video has garnered over 474k views with 28.7k likes and 103 comments in the past few days. Simple video shows how to eat dosa by making a hole in the middle using a fork. Whether the technology was right or wrong, comments were divided. Many viewers applauded the technique and wrote:

“Amazing Technique”

“Hey! Where were you all this time!!”

“I was this year today”

“Thank you now I will save you from being embarrassed” (Thanks, this is going to save me from embarrassment).

Several others were quite vocal about their dislike of the video and left comments such as:

“Masala Dosa Etiquette Step 1 There Is No Spoon/Fork”

“What. You don’t use a spoon or a fork while eating dosa. It’s embarrassing and has ruined my day.”

“Wrong: You don’t use anything but your hands”

“A dosa is eaten with your hand, in fact the fork and spoon are not used by everyone.”
