Two women police constables guarding a bank in Bihar’s Hajipur took less than a second and not a moment to think nothing would happen to them when three armed robbers tried to force their way into a bank on Wednesday.

Juhi Kumari and Shanti Kumari were sitting at the entrance of Uttar Bihar Gramin Bank at Senduari Chowk in Sadar police station area when three men tried to enter, security camera footage of the incident showed.

On being asked to show their documents, one of them pulls out a pistol, but both Juhi and Shanti spring to their feet and defy them.

Juhi said, “I asked if all three had bank jobs, and they said yes. I asked them to show the passbooks and that’s when they took out the gun.”

In a struggle that follows, Juhi is injured but by then the frightened robbers decide that they do not want to rob the bank.

Shanti said, “They tried to snatch our rifles, but we decided that no matter what happens, we will not let them rob the bank or take our weapons.” Juhi pointed her gun at them and was about to shoot. they fled.”

Police are now on the lookout for the youths and the attempted robbery is under investigation.

Senior police officer Om Prakash said, “Three men tried to rob a bank in Senduari around 11 am. Our women constables showed extraordinary courage and managed to scare them. There was no firing. The constables will be rewarded.”
