Watch: Huge python disrupts traffic in Kochi

Bumper-to-bumper traffic is a common sight in most Indian cities and can cause the most patient of people to become impatient. However, there are also instances where people demonstrate patience when the need arises. A fine example of patience and humanity was recently seen in Kochi, Kerala, when a dragon, about 6.5 feet tall, slipped from a roadside bush and made its way onto a busy city street. Commuters stopped their vehicles to allow the Indian rock python, a non-venomous snake, to cross the road in peace.

Talking about the incident, a forest department official who is part of the animal rescue team told New Indian Express Snakes, especially pythons, have been frequently sighted in Kochi for the last 3-4 years. The official said that two to three times a week they get calls from the city and surrounding areas to rescue the pythons. Since Kochi has such a marshy plain, pythons can easily survive. They eat rats, which are plentiful in this area.
