Watch: Japanese billionaire delivers food to the International Space Station

Are you fond of food delivery apps? Well, you’re not alone. Even astronauts are ordering food through food delivery providers these days. Yes this is true. We are not bluffing here. And, the food delivery providers are trying their best to meet such demands. In case you’re wondering what we’re talking about, here are the details. Uber Eats Japan has leapfrogged into the space to expand its delivery areas. Don’t believe us? Well, the food delivery company has done the unimaginable. It made its first delivery from Earth to space on Saturday, sending food to astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

If you’re already stunned by this act, stop. There is much more for you. Uber Eats was not delivered by any normal delivery boy. For the delivery of food, Japanese entrepreneur Yusaku Maezawa worked as a delivery boy.

Uber Eats Japan posted a video of the food delivery on its Twitter page. There, we see Mr Maezawa hand ISS Commander Anton Shkaplerov an Uber Eats brown paper bag. Mr Maezawa was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and an Uber Eats cap. The caption read, “Uber Eats delivery continues to grow. One after the other in locations that are not yet delivering.” The post also thanked Mr Maezawa for the delivery. Have a look at the video:

Twitter users were surprised by this unique food delivery. Some called it an “extremely cool delivery”, while others thought it was “amazing” to deliver food into space.

Mr Maezawa, who was in orbit for 12 days in space, delivered the food after traveling 248 miles. He delivered the food packet within eight hours and 34 minutes of his journey. Mr. Maezawa went to the ISS on December 11 at 9:40 a.m. ET.

Many of us are curious about the food that Uber Eats delivered for the first time in space. a report in travel and leisure Mentioned that the food package contained location-appropriate food instead of ready-to-eat canned Japanese food. It included steamed mackerel in miso, chicken and bamboo shoots, braised pork, and a Japanese beef bowl.

According to the report, Mr. Maezawa said, “I just had some delicious food. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to deliver food for the first time in space.”
