Khulna Tigers head coach Khalid Mahmood was caught smoking a cigarette during BPL 2023 clash against Fortune Barishal
Khulna Tigers ended their Bangladesh Premier League 2023 campaign with a thrilling win over Fortune Barishal at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday, February 10.
During the match, Khalid Mahmood, the head coach of Khulna Tigers, was seen smoking a cigarette and the incident was caught on camera.
Tigers needed 169 runs to win as Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored an unbeaten 64 off 43 balls, while Habibur Rahman also returned unbeaten on 30 off only 9 balls.
Tigers needed 9 runs in the final over to ensure victory as Habibur hit a six off the second and third balls of Fortune Barishal’s captain Mehidy Hasan’s final over.
The win meant that the Tigers ended their campaign in fifth place with 6 points from 12 matches.
However, before Rahman scored the winning run, cameras caught Tigers head coach Mahmood smoking a cigarette and the incident attracted attention on social media.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, in which Mahmood is seen smoking near the dugout and the veteran removes his hand from his lips as soon as he realizes that he has been caught in the act.

Mehmood was earlier caught smoking during a live show a few years ago.
Earlier in the match, Barisal posted a total of 169/8 thanks to a blistering 48 off just 29 balls by Dwayne Pretorius. Ibrahim Zadran (21 in 15 balls) and Karim Janat (18 in 9 balls) also made valuable contributions to the cause.

For the bowling side, Mohammad Saifuddin took four wickets, with Nasum Ahmed and Hasan Murad also taking two wickets each.
While the win for the Tigers meant nothing as they were already out of the tournament, Fortune Barishal will square off against Rangpur Riders in the Eliminator, while Sylhet Strikers will square off against Comilla Victorians in Qualifier 1.
