Watch: Make This Easy Besan Aloo Curry On Those Days When You Are Confused What To Cook

Whenever we are looking for cooking options for dinner, most of the time we get confused and resort to the same old aloo ki sabzi. Aloo curry is one of the most commonly cooked dishes in Indian households. It is easy to make and safe as no one in the family will deny it. But if you too are bored with the same flavour, then why not try something different this time. One of the reasons why aloo curry has come in our menu is that sometimes there is a shortage of fresh vegetables in our pantry. If you are also facing the same problem right now, then we have a recipe that does not require any vegetables. You can offer the same potato curry to your family but under the guise of gram flour.

Potato Curry, We are calling it besan aloo curry because gram flour is used to make a potato-like vegetable which is cooked in onion-tomato gravy. Potatoes are not actually used in this. This recipe was shared by food vlogger Reshu on his channel ‘Cooking with Reshu’.

Besan Aloo Curry Recipe How to make Besan Aloo Curry without Potatoes:

For gram flour, add salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, a little soda, a little oil and ghee as per taste. Mix everything together. Now add some curd to it and knead the dough. Adding little water will help in kneading it well. Let it rest for just 5 minutes. Grease your hands with oil and make small balls from the dough. Toss the balls in boiling water for 8-10 minutes. Keep stirring in between. Switch off the gas and the round balls will cool down in water. Then cut them into small pieces and make them Besan Potato.

Now make curry. Fry bay leaves, cumin, asafoetida, ginger and garlic in a little oil. Add grated onion and green chillies and fry till brown. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder and fry the spices for 1-2 minutes. Then add tomato puree and salt and cook till the oil separates. Add some water and curd, keep stirring till the water comes to a boil. Add more water to make curry. You can add the same water that was used to boil the gram flour. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add in the boiled gram flour and cook for about 5 minutes more. Serve with garam masala and green coriander.
