Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 146th birth anniversary at Parliament House on 31 October. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge also paid floral tributes to the Iron Man of India. This day is also celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) all over the country.
