Watch: PM stops car to take picture of his mother in Shimla

The girl told PM Modi that she finished the portrait in a day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stops his convoy to accept a painting of his mother by a girl during a roadshow in Shimla on Tuesday.

The road leading to Shimla’s Ridge Maidan was packed with spectators waiting to catch a glimpse of PM Modi. In the midst of the crowd, a girl named Anu was standing holding a picture of PM Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi.

On seeing the picture, PM Modi stopped his car, got out of it before reaching the girl.

“What’s your name? Where do you live? How many days did it take you to make this painting?” PM Modi asked the girl.

The girl told the Prime Minister that she hailed from Shimla and she finished the painting in a day. The girl said that she herself had drawn a portrait of the PM which has been sent to her through the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

PM Modi arrived in Shimla on Tuesday to participate in the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’. The Prime Minister released Rs 21,000 crore to over 10 crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme.

During the ‘Garib Kalyan Sammelan’, PM Modi sought opinion from public representatives across the country on various welfare schemes of the government.
