Watch: Prithvi Shaw attacked in Mumbai for refusing to take selfie; Oshiwara police filed a complaint against 8 people

Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw was attacked in Mumbai but luckily he managed to escape safely. A total of 8 people have accused a 23-year-old man of assault while sitting in his friend’s car. The reason for the attack is said to be that the attackers were prohibited from taking ‘selfies’ on behalf of the Delhi Capitals opener.


Prithvi ShawOn refusing to take a selfie, the assailants started pelting stones at his friend’s car. Mumbai Police has registered a case against 8 people related to the incident.

Oshiwara police have booked eight people under various sections (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506) of the Indian Penal Code following the incident.

Two of the eight named in the police complaint have been identified as Sapna Gill and Shobhit Thakur, who have accused Shaw of assaulting her earlier, a charge denied by the chargers.

Shaw is not a regular in the Indian cricket team but is one of the most popular athletes in the country. In 2013, he was compared to the great Sachin Tendulkar. In 2013, Shaw wrote his name in the history books after breaking Tendulkar’s record by smashing 546 runs in a Harris Shield match.

Recently, Shaw’s Instagram handle uploaded a picture with actress Nidhi Tapadia, referring to him as his wife. Within minutes, Shaw deleted the picture and explained that someone had edited the picture and urged people not to believe what was posted on her Instagram. (more to follow)
