Amid the Russia-Ukraine political crisis, thousands of students from India and other countries are trying to return to their home countries. Many of them are stranded and looking for shelter, food and other resources. In the midst of this uproar, Sikh volunteers have come forward and offered help. While Indian officials are also doing their bit, the Sikh community has again offered a ray of hope in times of pressure. In a video that surfaced recently, he can be seen distributing free food ‘langar’ on a train in Ukraine. Watch the video shared on Twitter and watch:

The video was shared by Ravinder Singh on Twitter, a Sikh Philanthropist who is the founder and CEO of Khalsa Aid. It has garnered over 131k views and 6k likes. He said the video was from Ukraine and was called ‘Guru ka langar on a train’ which was going from Ukraine towards the Polish border. In the clip, we can see volunteers distributing roti vegetables to students. He shared in his tweet, “These people were lucky to board this train that is traveling from East to West of Ukraine (up to the Polish border).”
He said, “Hardeep Singh has been providing langar and support to many students from different countries. Kya aadmi hai.”
The concept of ‘anchor’ originates from Sikh The ideology of ‘Seva’, i.e. to serve mankind. A community meal is cooked and served by volunteers in Gurudwaras with the aim that no one irrespective of caste or religion goes without food.

This is not the first time that Sikh volunteers have stepped up to do something for the community around them. In November 2021, workers distributed more than 3,000 meals to people trapped in the Canadian floods.
