WATCH: Viral Video of a Famous Street Food Rejected from the Internet; why over here

Street food is something that we all love; The streets of India are crowded with food stalls catering to all kinds of tastes. From tangy chatte golgappas to delicious bread pakodas and delicious varieties of chaat, we take our street food very seriously. And, maybe, it is the obsession with street food that sometimes makes us turn a blind eye to one of the most basic necessities that we must follow, and that is cleanliness. While there is no doubt that street food in India is nothing less than a heaven for foodies, there has always been concern about how street food is prepared, served and stored. A viral Instagram reel has surfaced about a similar concern.

@gareebpanda, an Instagram page run by digital content creator Virat Raghav, recently uploaded a video showcasing the famous Barule Chaat, a favorite street food of parts of UP like Aligarh, Agra and Hathras. Chaat is made from potatoes that have been marinated in a specific way. It is first fried in oil and kept aside, cut into small pieces and fried again for extra crunch. It is then sprinkled with dry spices like chaat masala and green chutney. Watch the video here:

Of course the chaat looked delicious, but the preparation, not so much. The video has over 3.8 million views, 138k likes and 676 comments. While many commented on how familiar they were with the chaat or how delicious the final product was, most comments pointed out how unhygienic the oil looked. The color of the oil was dark and foam was forming on it. From disgust to disgust, the quality of the oil used to fry this chaat got all kinds of reactions.

Some of the comments left on the video included “Oil is extremely unhealthy and it is used again”, “How come people are not afraid to eat street food nowadays?”, “Look at the oil….not healthy I think”. He has been using that oil for the past 100 years….whoever supports good people so that they can improve the quality of food” and “enough oil to stop a heart attack”.

Other comments on the oil were “How long does the oil change ni kara … esa laga raha h engine oil mein fry hore j” (How long has he not changed the oil because it looks like they are being fried in engine oil) ), “How old is the oil brother?” (how old is this oil), “brother eating it is bad liver condition” (eating this is going to affect your liver) and “ye kosa sada hua tel ho” (what kind of oil is this).

Some of the positive comments the video received are “Ham famous in Aligarh” (it’s famous in Aligarh), “Funny” (looks great), “I tried this barule it’s delicious” and “looks very tempting”. “.
