WATCH: Will Young’s “Simply Outrageous Catch” in New Zealand vs South Africa 2nd Test | cricket news

New Zealand were South Africa did a great job in the second Test in Christchurch on Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean the hosts didn’t have their share of brilliance in the series-deciding final Test. On the fourth day, Will Young took an “outrageous” catch to dismiss South African pacer Marco Jensen. During the 79th over of South Africa’s second innings, Jensen flicked Colin de Grandhomme towards the deep midwicket area.

As the ball was traveling for at least one boundary, Young, who was positioned around that area, came running and took an excellent one-handed catch.

Young stumbled but held the ball, leaving the commentators and spectators scratching their heads.

New Zealand Cricket has shared the video of this catch on its official Twitter handle.

South Africa eventually declared their innings at 354/9 after Kyle Verne’s 136-run knock, setting New Zealand a target of 426.

New Zealand were all out for 227 runs in eight balls after tea on the final day.

This completed a remarkable turnaround for South Africa, who read out far better conditions than New Zealand after losing by an innings and 276 runs in the first Test at the same ground.

A century from Searle Ervie laid the base for 364 in the first innings, Kagiso Rabada took five for 60 as New Zealand added 71 in the balance and Kyle Verne’s unbeaten 136 in the second innings tightened the grip on New Zealand.

Frustrated New Zealand captain Tom Latham, who saw a chance to win a history-making first series over South Africa, blamed his batsmen, “Our blueprint is about putting a big first innings score on the board, if we are able to do that.” Were that things might look a little different,” he said.
“Unfortunately we were not able to build partnership in the first or second innings.”
