Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada on December 18 (Sunday), Mr. Parthasarathy said that the BEL Investment Committee meeting chaired by him at Machilipatnam on Saturday, decided to provide ₹384 crore for the construction of the first phase of the BEL Complex. The decision was taken. in Palasamudram.

He said that in 2016, BEL had bought 914 acres of land for the construction of a missile and radar test centre, but the project could not take off for long due to various issues, including the one related to APIIC. Now, all the issues have been resolved and the incoming unit is much bigger than the earlier planned unit.

He said that BEL is manufacturing night vision glasses at Machilipatnam unit, which will be used by the armed forces. “We are looking to expand the facility with one more manufacturing unit and this will come up at Nimmaluru in Krishna district. In the new plant, we are going to use advanced technology to manufacture night-vision glasses. Employment opportunities will be created and there will be development activity in the surrounding areas as well,” Mr Parthasarathy, who is also the national secretary of the BJP OBC Morcha, said.

Shri Parthasarathy said that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is keen on the development of Andhra Pradesh and the upcoming projects are testimony to this.

He said that BEL provides more than 350 products for the needs of the Armed Forces and half of them are manufactured by DRDO while the rest are developed by BEL. He said that BEL has eight manufacturing units and 22 stationary commercial units across the country.
