New Delhi [India]May 13 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sushil Rinku on Saturday won the bypoll from Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, which was considered a Congress bastion for the past 24 years.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that we do not come in any survey, we come directly to the government.

As per the latest trends from the Election Commission, AAP candidate Sushil Kumar is leading in Rinku seat and ahead of his nearest rival and Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chowdhary.

Addressing a press conference, CM Bhagwant Mann said, “We will do our best to fulfill the hopes and expectations of the people. We consider it our responsibility. ,

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed it as an unprecedented victory for the party.

CM Kejriwal said, “This is an unprecedented victory for us. Congress has been winning this seat for the last 50 years. The first year is tough for every new party. We have faced various problems because of the previous governments. Bhagwant Mann government of Aam Aadmi Party solved those problems and created a positive environment. ,

“We seek votes from the people on the basis of the work done by our government. The mood of Jalandhar is the mood of entire Punjab. The result is one big message. People want that the Bhagwant Maan government should continue to work as it should.

Thanking the people of Jalandhar, the CM said, “Last time, we won 92 seats and formed the government in the state. However, we could win only four out of nine seats in Jalandhar. The Congress had won five seats. But today AAP has won seven seats.

Meanwhile, following the latest trends, AAP’s local unit burst crackers and distributed sweets in celebration.

Rinku has got 3,02,279 votes so far, while Chowdhary has got 2,43,588 votes.

Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Inder Sukhwinder Sukhi was third, while BJP candidate Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal was fourth, trends showed at 4:05 p.m.

Atwal has got 1,34,800 votes so far and Sukhi has got 1,58,445 votes.

Voting for the bypoll on May 10 was necessitated after Karamjit Kaur’s husband and Congress MP Santokh Singh Chowdhary died of a heart attack while participating in the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra on January 14 this year.

Nineteen candidates contested the by-election, which saw a voter turnout of 54.70 percent. The voter turnout was much lower than the 63.04 per cent recorded in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. (ANI)
