Air India is now officially part of the Tata Group once again after a gap of seven decades. Led by Virasat, pilots of all AI flights greeted passengers with the line ‘Welcome to the Future of Air India’ on 28 January. This came a day after the government transferred 100 per cent shares of AI to Tata’s subsidized Tales Pvt Ltd. management control. Tata bought back AI with an advance of Rs 2,700 crore and took over its debt of Rs 15,300 crore.
