West Bengal BJP MP gets ‘Z’ security amid claims of bomb blast near his house

The central government on Wednesday increased his security to ‘Z’ category amid claims that a country-made bomb was recently hurled outside the residence of West Bengal BJP MP Arjun Singh.

Three days ago, incidents of bomb throwing at his house in North 24 Parganas district of the state had come to the fore.

The 59-year-old politician represents the Barrackpore seat in the Lok Sabha.

“Two months ago, I wrote to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and West Bengal Governor that the West Bengal CM had given instructions to kill me. After this, there were many attacks on me. The Bengal government is targeting people associated with the BJP. The last attack is related to Bhabnipur.”

Officials said Singh’s central security has been increased from the existing ‘Y’ to ‘Z’ in view of the recent incidents of violence against Singh and his family members.

This task is being provided by the armed commandos of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Less than a week after miscreants threw a bomb at Singh’s residence, similar explosions were reported outside his house on Tuesday morning, as the BJP leader claimed that members of the ruling TMC were trying to kill him.

Under the ‘Z’ category, the MP will now have around six to seven commandos from the earlier two security personnel whenever he travels in the state and an additional team will guard his home.
