West Bengal Board Class 10, 12 Exam Schedule Declared

The West Bengal government has given a green signal to the secondary and higher secondary boards to conduct offline exams for class 10 and 12, citing the reduction in coronavirus cases in the states.

West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Examination (WBCHSE) and West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBSE) had canceled the examination in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The schedule for class 10 and 12 board exams was released after the West Bengal government announced the opening of schools for classes 9 to 12 from November 16.

According to a notification released by WBCHSE and WBSE, the higher secondary examinations will be conducted from April 2 and will conclude by April 20 next year. Secondary examinations will start from March 7, 2022. The examinations will start from 10 am and will continue till 1:15 pm.

As per the notification, the exam will be conducted at home centres, which means students will appear for the exam in their own school, unlike in earlier years when the exam centers used to be in a different school.

WBSCHE has announced that it will conduct the practical exam between 4th February to 4th March.

Both the education boards announced the dates after the offline exam was approved by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Earlier, both the boards had said that the dates would be released after getting the green signal from the Chief Minister to conduct the offline exams.

West Bengal Board of Secondary Education President Kalyanmoy Ganguly said that the 10th examination will be held in 4800 schools.

West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) President Chiranjeev Bhattacharya said that both the boards expect the exam to be conducted offline. “If the cases of coronavirus increase during the exam period, we have a plan B. As of now, we will prepare for the exam offline.”
