West Bengal: ‘Not invited’ for inauguration of overbridge, says railway officials, it is primarily funded

The name of the inauguration of a road overbridge over the Kamarkundu railway track has triggered controversy as railway officials say they are unaware of the inauguration.

Senior Divisional Engineer Coordination SK Yadav wrote a letter to the District Magistrate Hooghly regarding the matter and said that the construction of the overbridge has been done on the basis of cost sharing. Indian Rail and Government of West Bengal.

Eklavya Chakraborty, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway says that Kamarkundu ROB has been constructed on cost-sharing basis, with the Ministry of Railways contributing about 60%. “Therefore, it would be appropriate to organize the inauguration jointly by the state government and the railway ministry. If the inauguration is planned at the chief minister’s level from the state side, it would be appropriate to request the railway minister to jointly inaugurate it,” he said.
