West Indies beat Bangladesh by 35 runs in second T20

Rovman Powell smashed an unbeaten 61 off 28 balls with two fours and six sixes as West Indies’ 193/5 proved too much for Bangladesh to chase in their second Twenty20 International.

Bangladesh posted 158/6 in reply as West Indies posted a comfortable 35-run win to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Opener Brandon King made a 43-ball 57 and captain Nicholas Pooran made a 30-ball 34 after West Indies decided to bat first on Sunday.

Left-arm fast bowler Shorful Islam scored 2-40 runs in four overs.

Bangladesh bounced back 23-3 as Shakib Al Hasan scored an unbeaten 68 off 52 balls for the visitors, which included five fours and three sixes. This was the highest score of the match.

Pacer Romario Shepherd was dismissed after scoring 2-28 runs in four overs.

Saturday was the first T20 washout. Bangladesh reached 105-8 in 13 overs and the match had already been reduced to 14 overs per side. The game was the first cricket international match at Windsor Park since it was rebuilt in 2017 after being severely damaged by a tornado.

The third and final T20I will be played on Thursday in Providence, Guyana, followed by a three-match ODI series.

West Indies won the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
