Punjab Congress chief Navjot Sidhu met party general secretaries KC Venugopal and Harish Rawat in Delhi today amid the ongoing turmoil in the state Congress, sources suggested to end their months-long dispute that broke out last month. was climaxed with his resignation letter.

The cricketer-turned-politician said, “I have expressed my concerns to the party high command, I am sure that whatever decision the party president Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will take, it will be for Punjab. I consider them supreme. and obey his orders.” after the meeting.

“A formal decision is expected tomorrow. Sidhu has retracted his militant stand of resigning from the post of PCC (Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee) president,” a party leader said on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, Harish Rawat was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: “Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjit Channi have spoken on some issues, a solution will be found… there are some things which take time.”

The meeting took place after uneasy tension between Sidhu and Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.

Rawat, who is the party’s Punjab in-charge, had earlier said that the discussion would be on “organizational matters” of the state Congress.

Navjot Sidhu had posted his resignation on Twitter last month, making clear his displeasure over the appointments and cabinet reshuffles under the new chief minister. He was back on board the very next day after an agreement was reached with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi.

However, his absence at the wedding ceremony of the chief minister’s son exposed tensions beneath the surface.

The 57-year-old had said in a cryptic tweet on October 2, “Will uphold the principles of Gandhi ji & Shastri ji… Post or no post will stand with Rahul Gandhi & Priyanka Gandhi”.

Navjot Sidhu was made the Punjab Congress chief in July, despite strong opposition from the then Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
