WhatsApp announces 11 new features in 2022: community, emoji reactions, others

Instant messaging app WhatsApp, now owned by Meta, has announced a slew of features that will be introduced in 2022. The new features are aimed at enhancing the user experience of this widely used app owned by Meta.

Some of these features were already available to beta testers on Android and iOS platforms.

Although, WhatsApp The specific date to launch each new feature is yet to be clarified. Once rolled out, the feature will join the new voice messaging tool the company released a few weeks ago.

WhatsApp said, “Organizations such as schools, local clubs and non-profits now rely on WhatsApp to communicate securely and get things done – especially since the pandemic has forced us all to work together while apart.” Forced to find creative ways.”

Here is the list of features that WhatsApp has announced for this year.

1. Emoji Reactions

WhatsApp Messages is bringing responses similar to those available on other Meta-owned platforms- Instagram and Facebook Messenger.

This feature allows users to ‘react’ to messages containing emoticons. Users just have to tap and hold the message they want to respond to and then drag their finger over the appropriate emoji. Feedback will appear below the text and will be visible to all members of the group.

2. Community

community feature is on WhatsApp Will enable people to bring disparate groups together under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. Users can receive updates sent to the entire community and easily organize discussion groups that matter to them. Communities will also have new tools for admins, including announcement messages sent to everyone and controlling which groups can be included.

3. Group admin can delete other user’s message

With the upcoming update, WhatsApp group admins will be able to delete erroneous or problematic messages from everyone’s chats. Till now only senders were allowed to delete their messages.

4. File Sharing Capacity Extended to 2GB

With the upcoming update to WhatsApp, the platform will be able to support file transfers of up to 2 gigabytes so that people can collaborate on a project easily. Currently, WhatsApp only allows 100MB file sharing at a time.

5. Voice calls get new design and support for up to 32 users

WhatsApp will introduce one-tap voice calling for up to 32 people with a new design. The company is changing the design of the app window that appears during group voice calls. The platform is adding voice waveforms for all participants during group calls. Voice waveforms are similar to those seen in voice notes. The changes in the design are minimal but they provide a fresh look to the page.

6. Pause and Resume Voice Message Recording

WhatsApp users can now pause and resume voice messages while they are being recorded. When users start recording voice messages in handsfree mode, they will see a new pause option. Until now, users had to re-record a voice message in case of any interference. This feature will also be helpful in recording long voice messages.

7. Resume voice messages from where you stopped

WhatsApp users no longer need to listen to voice messages in one go. They can pause the voice message and start listening from where they left off. This feature will be helpful in listening to voice messages for a long time.

8. Play voice message outside WhatsApp chat

WhatsApp users can now listen to voice notes after a conversation or even while using any other app. This feature helps in saving time as users can reply in another chat while listening to voice notes. Before the feature, users had to be on the chat to listen to the voice note received.

9.Waveform Design Voice Message

WhatsApp users will now be able to see the visual representation of the voice of the voice message. According to the company, the design will help users follow the recording. WhatsApp also introduced a similar waveform design for voice calls.

10. Listen to Voice Messages Before Sending

WhatsApp users can now listen to their recorded voice messages before sending them. Till now, users only had the option to record and send voice messages directly without even listening to them. This feature will work with the new pause and resume feature for voice message recording.

11. Faster playback on voice messages

WhatsApp now gives users the option to play voice messages at 1.5x or 2x speed and listen to them faster. A new 1x speed button can now be seen near the voice message player. You can tap the New button to change the playback speed of any voice message.
