WhatsApp can make it easier for you to find messages – Times of India

WhatsApp Is reportedly working on a new button that will make it easier for you to find messages. Last year, the Facebook-owned platform introduced a redesigned contact information section for Android Users who are enrolled in the beta program. Now, according to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has added a new search shortcut to that redesigned page for some Android beta testers. The new shortcuts were rolled out through the Google Play beta program along with a new update. The update brings the version of the app to 2.22.6.
As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, the new search shortcut has been added next to the video call icon. According to the report, some users can also see the new shortcut in the Group Info section. The report further states that the shortcut is not working as it should. Since this feature is still in beta version, it is expected that the company can fix this problem in the upcoming beta update. As mentioned earlier, this feature is only available for Android users, but the company may roll out the feature for iOS users as well.
Currently, the Search button is located on the homescreen of the app. You can search any message that you have sent or received using this feature. The search option also provides several filters to narrow down the search such as – photos, videos, links, gifs, audios and documents.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp also started testing the message reaction feature for desktop users. With this feature, users will be able to react with emoji on any message. A similar feature is already available on other meta-owned platforms including Facebook and Instagram. According to WABetaInfo, desktop users will be able to see a new message response button whenever the cursor is near a message. On pressing the button, users will get the option of emoji to react to the message.
