“It’s been a difficult week for our entire team at WhatsApp as we’ve had to say goodbye to many wonderful colleagues over the past week. In the midst of all this, I just shared some news with my WhatsApp and India teams. This had been planned for some time, but given the events of the past week, we wanted to put it on hold so that we could focus on supporting those affected last week,” wrote Abhijit Bose in a LinkedIn post.

Speaking about his decision to leave WhatsApp, he said that he is looking forward to his next gig. He plans to rejoin the world of entrepreneurship after a short break as some of his companies are doing well and may soon become global leaders in their respective fields.

“I believe the next 5 years will be transformative for India – many of our existing pre-IPO companies are very rapidly becoming global leaders in their respective fields,” he added.

Ending his note, he bid a final farewell to WhatsApp and said: “WhatsApp has the potential and the opportunity to change the world. I hope we keep our ambition and aggressiveness achievable beyond the influence, external and consideration of others! ,
