WhatsApp rolling out 2GB file sharing limit to more users: Report

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app owned by Meta, is rolling out the ability to send files up to 2GB. Although this feature was earlier launched for a certain group of users, now it is becoming available to more users.

WhatsApp Announced the ability to send large files back in March. Initially, the feature was tested in South America, and is now being rolled out to users in more regions. The new 2GB limit is being made available for both Android and iOS users. Now, users will be able to send pictures, videos and documents up to 2GB in size. As we keep improving the quality of the photos and videos we take with our phones, they are also getting bigger in size, and the 2GB limit is a much needed feature for many WhatsApp users. Earlier, WhatsApp allowed sharing of file sizes up to 100MB through the messaging app.

Users can check whether they have got this facility or not by sending any file of size more than 100 MB. The big rollout for the new 2GB size limit was first spotted by WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo.

WhatsApp is adding many new feature features for the users. The company earlier this week was reported to be working on a new update for desktop users that will let them know about incoming messages. Apart from this, users will also be able to filter their messages on the basis of contacts, non-contacts, read messages and unread messages.

In addition, WhatsApp is also working on bringing in double verification to make the platform more secure and prevent malicious actors from hijacking people’s WhatsApp by sending one-time passwords (OTPs) to their mobiles.

Another feature WhatsApp is testing right now is the option to view the results of group polls that you have created and shared with others. The tool is available on iOS beta version 22.12.0.73 and promises to give you details about election results such as which item won the most votes and by what percentage. WhatsApp will also have a top choice tag which basically shows you the winning voting option.
