In a blog post, WhatsApp has revealed that there are three new features that users will get: emoji responses, the ability to send files up to 2GB in size, and the ability to add up to 512 people in a group.
Emoji reactions now available
WhatsApp said it is excited to share that emoji reactions are now available on the latest version of the app. Responses are fun, fast, and they reduce overload even in groups.” WhatsApp further said that it will add wider expressions in the future.
Sending reactions is easy as users just have to long press on a message and an emoji reaction will appear. Users can send responses for individual chats as well as group chats. Users will be able to see who responded to an outgoing or incoming message by tapping on the reaction icon. Like any other incoming message, users will get a notification when someone reacts to your message.
Now you can send large files on WhatsApp
Users will now be able to send up to 2GB of files in one go to WhatsApp, which will be protected by end-to-end encryption. This exceeds the previous limit of 100 MB. WhatsApp said the feature will be helpful for collaboration between small businesses and school groups. “We recommend using WiFi for large files and we will display a counter when uploading or downloading to let you know how long your transfer will take.” So users will know how long it will take to transfer a file relatively large in size.
Now you can add more people to the group
WhatsApp said that one of the top requests it receives consistently is the option to add more people to the chat. Acting on the request, WhatsApp is now introducing the ability to add up to 512 people to a group.
