Rajesh Khanna once asked Amitabh Bachchan if his work life and personal life end up getting intertwined when he brings his angry characters home. Rajesh Khanna wanted to know if Amitabh Bachchan’s angry persona on screen spills over at home. Rajesh asked Amitabh, “There is no dividing line in my case. There’s always some hangover which you carry back home. Just as I have my affairs and women, do you carry your violence home?”
Amitabh replied, “I can’t answer that question. I don’t even know whether I am doing it well on screen. All I can say is that I am given my lines and do what I have to do, after which, when it’s pack-up time, it’s pack-up.” Amitabh added that he is ‘terrible’ at romance. Amitabh Bachchan’s lack of romance also surprised fans when Jaya Bachchan got candid about their marriage in 1998.

When Simi asked Amitabh if he considered himself a romantic, he quickly replied, “No.” Jaya, sitting beside him, couldn’t resist adding with a laugh, “Not with me.” Her playful remark caught Amitabh off guard, leading him to give her a puzzled look. “I’ve started trouble,” Jaya chuckled, making light of the moment.
Simi then delved deeper, asking Amitabh what he thought being romantic meant. Jaya explained that it involved gestures like bringing wine and flowers for a partner. Amitabh, however, was quick to dismiss the idea, admitting, “I’ve never done that.” Jaya speculated that perhaps Amitabh would have been more romantic if he had a girlfriend, but doubted it. “Maybe if he had a girlfriend he’d do it, but I don’t think,” she added.
