Why Andhra Pradesh not SCS, High Court asked the Center

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on November 20 asked the Center to explain why it did not grant special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh while it has been given to other states.

While considering a PIL filed by Amalapuram advocate V. Ramachandra Varma, Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice B. Krishna Mohan found the blame with the Center for not implementing the assurances given to the State of Andhra Pradesh on the Table of Parliament. The Bench sought to know the objections as per the situation in Andhra Pradesh.

Advocate M. Sri Rama Rao, appearing for the petitioner, submitted that in 2016 Andhra Pradesh was given a special package in lieu of special status, but industrial incentives to some other states were not being given to Andhra under Package-2. State.

Appearing for the Centre, Assistant Solicitor General N. Harinath said that petitions on this issue are pending in the Supreme Court.

The next hearing of the case has been fixed for December 20.
